Dave is the author of Kayaking-Canoeing-Tips.com, a qualified Paddlesport Instructor and a Trainee Kayak Coach.

He’s a keen paddler of kayaks, canoes and SUPs.

He has been a paddler since he first set eyes on a fibreglass Viscount kayak on a school trip back in the early eighties. He loved spending time on activity weeks at various centres and spent several years running a kayak club. All of this fuelled his enthusiasm for paddling.

Since then, he has paddled regularly and all across the UK.

His trips include Scotland (Etive, Findhorn, Orchy, Roy, Spey), Wales (Tryweryn, Dee, Stanley Embankment, Anglesey, LlangennithThe BitchesArtroCIWW, Usk, Whitesands, Barmouth, Black Rock Sands, Rest Bay) and England (Holme Pierrepont, Trent, Severn, Teme, Ure, NeneAvon, Soar, Sennen Cove, Marizion, Croyde Bay).

His early years of paddling was spent at the artificial white water course at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. A great training ground for white water skills and it always encouraged an eskimo roll or two!

He can roll a kayak and hasn’t ‘fished’ (failed to roll and swam!) in a long time. Tempting fate perhaps!

Over the years (is he really that old?), he has built up a knowledge of kayaking and canoeing. Not just the theory, but in many cases, the experience too. This is invaluable and the motivation in creating the kayaking-canoeing-tips.com website and the YouTube channel.

Passing on this information will hopefully help others to safely enjoy a sport that has given Dave many years of happiness.
